VOICES is a gathering designed to spark the creative, the divine, and the beautiful nature of worship. It will be a time of prayer and intimacy saturated in sights and sounds that will give space for artists to dive into the depths of the Knowledge of God as well as a time for practical and helpful ways to develop communication and relational skills and grow in the areas of your giftedness. We desire to see voices of all ages with songs of freedom and deliverance, with a heart for breakthrough and transformation in their cities, and a passion for Jesus that cannot be quenched given a safe place of expression and exploration. To breed an atmosphere of authenticity where artists are able to process externally through music as true example of what worship is, “a sacrifice of praise”. David had no fear expressing his hurt and his pain as well as joy and praise. This beautiful inheritance we have in the Psalms gives us a glimpse into the heart of a worshipping warrior given unashamedly by the only man marked in history as a man after Gods own heart. This is what we are looking for, this is what we want to become, and I know we are not alone.
VOICES includes 3 main themes:
The PRESENCE: All three to four main sessions will be focused purely on worship, prayer, and impartation. The main sessions will not include a main speaker or some personality to drive the session. We simply want to gather, worship, and see where God takes us. Whether we end up in a time of celebration or repentance, joy or weeping, we want people to become dependent on God and not personalities. We desire to go back to the fundamentals of our faith and the foundations of the Gospel in our worship; the awe-inspiring beauty of Jesus Christ and the terrifying majesty of the cross.
The PRACTICAL: Each gathering will include an afternoon filled with teachers and artists that carry the heart of VOICES and will help each person that comes grow in their giftedness and their abilities. The first session of breakouts will be solely focused on relationships, healing, and communication for everyone from married couples and dating singles to Jr. Highers and Team Leaders. We believe that it is impossible to do the walk Christ calls us to alone and if that is true then we must learn how to communicate and understand one another effectively to go long term and not just become another “flash in the pan”. The remainder of our time will be focused on everything from songwriting to programming and everything in between. We must learn the practical skills to grow in excellence and not perfectionism so that we lead others into freedom and not bondage.
The PEOPLE: The final afternoon we have together will be known as our THE SHOWCASE. Attendees who are full-time musicians or leaders will have the opportunity (via registration, a demo, and a letter from a spiritual authority in their life) to sign up for one of ten to twelve slots to share a song with the gathering. It can be just you with your instrument or you and your band (information can be found on the registration form). However you decide to share you will be given immediate feedback from some of the leaders of VOICES as well as a recorded demo of the song you performed emailed to you in an MP3 format. The goal is simply to create a platform for new artists to share their songs publicly and receive constructive feedback from others who are ministering full-time in music and have a heart to see new leaders with new songs being honored for their service to the local church.
